Recognizing that the results of some high impact research may not be available by the general abstract submission deadline, late-breaking is designed to allow for the opportunity for highly relevant and impactful studies to be considered. It is NOT a deadline extension for the general abstract submission deadline, and is open to all research areas.
The Spotlight on Late Breaking Clinical Research sessions provide exposure and recognition to major randomized trials, registries, or other clinical research that was not completed by the general abstract submission deadline. The session will highlight these results in short oral presentations. Other clinical research will be highlighted in additional rapid fire sessions. Similarly, laboratory-based late-breaking studies are also eligible for consideration in this category, but must be strongly justified by the authors, outlining the reasons why experimentation could not be completed before the standard abstract submission deadline.
Late-breaking abstracts must contain original and innovative work that advances the field. They cannot be a revision of an abstract submitted by the regular deadline or have been presented at any other scientific meeting. Additionally, case reports and other single-center studies are not eligible for late breaking submissions. If an abstract is selected for late-breaking, the presenting author must register and attend the Congress to present the research. All accepted late-breaking abstracts will be published in the MSMilan2023 Congress Supplement and will be made available for ePoster or paper poster presentation.
